Michelle Aebersold , PhD
Michelle Aebersold, PhD, RN, has extensive background in simulation using both high-fidelity simulators and virtual reality simulation using Second Life. She also has several years of experience using a virtual community as part of an innovative teaching and learning strategy in both didactic coursework and in simulation and skills lab. Dr. Aebersold has conducted research using various types of learning pedagogies including simulation and virtual reality simulation in Second Life with both nursing students and nursing staff. She has developed evaluation tools for use in simulation to evaluate student performance. In her role as Director for our Clinical Learning Center she developed a comprehensive simulation program and embedded it in the undergraduate curriculum. She also conducted curriculum revisions by revising our skills lab and assessment courses to incorporate simulation and case based learning consistent with the ideals of an integrative pedagogy. In addition, she has 20 years of nursing management experience in an acute and intensive care setting which gives her a comprehensive understanding of the challenges in health care systems.
