Andrea Ackermann , PhD, RN, CNE
Andrea Dodge Ackermann PhD, RN, CNE is a Professor and Division of Nursing Chair at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. She has been a full time faculty member since 2001. She completed her undergraduate studies in Massachusetts and received an MS in Nursing Education at Sage Graduate School in Troy, NY. Dr. Ackermann has had over 25 years of clinical experience in post-anesthesia and critical care nursing. She completed her PhD through the School of Nursing at Duquesne University where she investigated learning outcomes in CPR training using simulation for her dissertation. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) as VP of Finance. One of her publications won “Research Article of the Year” from the INACSL journal Clinical Simulation in Nursing. She designed, developed, and managed the Nursing Simulation Learning Center at Mount Saint Mary College since 2004 and served as the Director of Simulation and Clinical Learning for 4 years. This led to being chosen as an author for 2 learning courses on the Simulation Innovation Resource Center (SIRC). Professor Ackermann also works as a consultant with international nursing associations, local hospitals, nursing education programs, and architects in developing nursing simulation centers and educational practices in simulation. She serves as a peer reviewer on the Editorial Board for Nursing Perspectives and Clinical Simulation in Nursing and is a reviewer for Perspectives in Nursing Education.
